…
Tito Melema, a young Italianate-Greek scholar, comes to Florence as a stranger. Soon, he becomes acquainted with several citizens, including Nello, the barber, a young girl named Tessa, a blind scholar named Bardo, and his daughter Romola.
Tito settles in Florence and assists Bardo with classical studies. After some time he falls in love with Romola, but Tessa falls in love with Tito.
As time passes, things change, and Tito and Romola get married at Easter. But, it is after their marriage, when things start to change.
What will happen and want has changed; it is up to you to find out.
Follow the life of women at that time through the life of Romola, who is unhappy in her marriage with the treacherous Tito and her spiritual and intellectual awakening in the Renaissance period.
